Hello! My name is Jessica Camargo and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker(110411) who is excited to guide you through your therapeutic journey.

I understand how odd and maybe even intimidating it can feel to consider the idea of going to therapy; I mean it is a big deal, opening up your mind and soul to a stranger and not knowing what their reaction will be or what will happen next. This is one of the reasons why I decided to become a therapist, to prove that therapy can be a wonderful surprise that can lead to so much joy, peace and inner strength.

I am a proud Latina, born to Mexican immigrants and grew up in the OC, enjoying the foods and traditions of my Mexican culture. I am bilingual in Spanish and English and I love working with and learning from people with diverse cultures and backgrounds.

I was inspired to help others when I witnessed the struggles of families in my community, whose mental and emotional health were deteriorating as they tried to survive in a community lacking resources and compassion. Even though I grew up amongst people that did not believe in therapy, I was able to recognize the importance of seeking help and became determined to teach underserved communities that accepting help is not only okay but it is essential to their well-being.

I have been working in the mental health field for over 6 years and have enjoyed working with children, teens and adults. I continue to be believe in the power of therapy and I am passionate about the growth I see in clients. I received my Bachelor’s in Human Services with a minor in Child Adolescent Development from Cal State Fullerton. I continued to grow professionally by working with children and parents who came into contact with Child Protective Services and supported their reunification process by providing trauma-informed therapy and parenting counseling. I attended UCLA and received my Master’s in Social Welfare with an emphasis in mental health. In addition, I have experience helping people overcome their struggles with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, stage of life stressors, crisis, anger and parenting.

No matter what challenges you’re going through, I can ensure you that you will feel heard and understood. I will focus on your needs and goals and help you feel stronger to face your problems head-on. I work from a psychodynamic, person-centered and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) framework. This means that I will help you understand how your past impacts your present and how to take steps towards building healthier habits and relationships. Also, I will learn about your qualities and strengths and help you build the confidence to overcome any challenges so you can reach your goals. CBT is another approach that I utilize to help you identify the thoughts and behaviors that are harmful to your life and replace them with more healthy thoughts and behaviors that can lead you to create the life you envision.
