Welcome, my name is Elaine Brattain, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#145859) and part of the Cottonwood Psychology Center team.

You have bravely ventured the move toward a more satisfying life. I too faced my own season of growth and refinement. A loss experience and compassion for others sparked my desire to pursue a master’s in clinical counseling from California State University, Fullerton.

Individuals enter therapy for a variety of reasons including loss, unresolved childhood experiences, difficult life transitions, changes in emotional states, troubling beliefs, or patterns of thought.

I believe that all people have the desire to be their best selves. Integrating my passion and life experience, I want to help individuals face the challenges that push them outside of their comfort zone, whether it be struggling with loss, living in difficult relationships, surviving trauma, or adjusting to life transitions. I use a humanistic and person-centered approach enhanced with CBT, mindfulness, family-systems, existential constructs, and EMDR uniquely designed to suit each individual. My goal in therapy is to provide a safe place in which you will find your strengths, explore negative thoughts, and heal from past experiences.

Acceptance and empathy with lightheartedness are characteristic of my interpersonal therapeutic style used to ease the work toward restoring balance to your life, making meaning out of the meaningless, finding joy after sorrow, and replacing chaos with a sense of hope and peace. Are you ready to move forward? Let’s talk about how we might work together to help you live more of the life you want to live.
