Hi, my name is Gurminder Sandhu and I’m a second-generation South Asian American woman (she/her). I have my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and will be working as a Psychological Associate (PSB 94026546) under the supervision of Dr. Megan Phillips (PSY 28184) while I work toward licensure. I’m happy to be here at Cottonwood Psychology Center with the opportunity to provide you a warm and supportive therapy experience. My approach to working with clients centers on building a strong and meaningful relationship, which I believe is the foundation for success on this journey. Given that a variety of theoretical approaches and techniques are useful in addressing different concerns, my work is integrative and flexible.
I have many years of experience working with college students in the university setting and have encountered a wide range of issues. Some of these include relationship problems, academic difficulties, career challenges, anxiety, depression, stress, cultural adjustment, family conflict, gender identity, sexual orientation, work-life balance, and several other concerns. Recognizing and addressing diversity and multicultural issues is also a very important part of my work. My personal experiences as a woman of color with two young children who is navigating career and home life balance is a great asset to my work with clients. I understand the multitude of challenges that come with being a parent while also fulfilling other roles. My hope is that I will be able to use the knowledge, training, and experiences I have acquired over time to help you on your path in life. I look forward to working with you!
