Hello, and welcome! I’m Amber Navarro, an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC 11866) working under the supervision of Dr. Rachael Berg-Martinez (PSY 26730).
As it does for so many, motherhood forever changed my trajectory, and in 2017 I began working as a birth doula and advocate for new parents in our local community. Since then, I’ve walked with numerous families as they traversed the peaks and valleys of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I’m passionate about supporting diverse populations, including Black, Latinx, and AAPI individuals, teens, and young adults. I have experience helping individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, and adjustment issues. My love and respect for this work are longstanding, and I would be honored to sit with you during this season in your life, whether you are navigating the struggles of new parenthood or other mental health challenges.
As a therapist, I take a trauma-informed and culturally responsive approach that honors your unique intersectionality, and I believe in the importance of collaborative goal setting. I honor your vulnerability and needs by providing a safe space for healing, growth, and keeping it real. I utilize interventions from Psychodynamic Therapy, Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling from Chapman University and completed my undergraduate education in Psychology at the University of California, Irvine.
If this resonates with you and you believe we might be a good fit, I’d love to work with you!
